Centenary of Griffith

Time Capsule Buried in 1971 to be Raised in 2016

The town of Griffith was proclaimed on 4 August 1916 and 100 years to the day, Griffith will celebrate.

As part of the celebrations, on this day, a time capsule which was buried in 1971 on the grounds of Griffith City Council will be raised to reveal a snapshot of our city "frozen in time".

Councillor Christine Stead and Councillor Alison Balind can't wait to discover what treasures lay beneath the plaque.

 

Location set for International Sculptures

A key event and ongoing tribute to the Griffith Centenary is the International Sculpture Symposium to be held in 2016. Consisting of 5 sculptures, the 2016 Centenary Committee have been working on a suitable location to house these works of art into the future and have selected Willows and IOOF Parks.
